Who are we?
The Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group (GDDPC) is a non-profit organization working in the Cocagne River watershed in southeastern New Brunswick, Canada. The GDDPC, managed by a volunteer steering committee, has been working with the communities since 2000. The communities of Grande-Digue, Cocagne, Notre-Dame, Irishtown and Grand Saint-Antoine are part of the territory. There are over 3000 primary residences and many seasonal residences.
The GDDPC's programs are aimed at sustainable holistic development of the territory and provide opportunities for citizens to take charge of their environment. The GDDPC acts as a catalyst for sustainable community development. It implements programs to improve the quality of the environment and the quality of life of the citizens of the Cocagne River watershed.
Position 1: Environmental technician
The young person will help with the coordination of the activities of the GDDPC and will participate in team meetings. Among other things, he or she will develop his or her own environmental project. Depending on funding, he or she will be involved in the following projects:
- Be responsible for the collection of water quality data in the river, streams and bay in the Cocagne watershed. This includes the collection of data such as pH, temperature, etc.
- Participate in the Bank swallow inventory
- Assist with shoreline bird surveys and during the marsh project
- Assist in the development of workshops and during field trips
- Assist with riparian land restoration and conservation, planting and seeding, communicating with landowners and the public.
Requirements: transportation, not older than 30 yrs, bilingual
