The Rural Community of Beausoleil and the Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group would like to recognize the efforts of the participants of the Living Shorelines hands-on workshop held in Cocagne on June 3 and 4, 2025.
With the help of around twenty representatives from environmental groups, the fascine fence was restored, reinforced, and enhanced with the addition of willow stems, brush, and straw. The fence will continue to reduce the impact of waves and rainwater runoff. In addition, about a hundred beachgrass (ammophila) plants were planted at the base of the slope. Several shrubs (alder, willow, wild roses) and perennials (iris, cattail) were also planted on the slope.
Thanks to the collective effort—representing around 120 hours of work—the workshop led to such beautiful results!
