Develop resilient communities by finding sustainable solutions to climate change in collaboration with the population of the Cocagne watershed.
A resilient community is a group of people structured and organized to adapt quickly to change, overcome trauma, while maintaining cohesion and open relationships with the rest of the world.
Faced with the reality of global warming, the citizens of the Cocagne watershed are organizing to adapt without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Overview of activities
Here we present our activities in three parts: Workshops and Talks, Communications (Bulletin, Website and Social Media) and Initiatives and Demands of Citizens.
A. Workshops and talks
A series of talks and workshops on adaptation to climate change was designed to enrich the discussions and provide possible solutions. These talks and workshops also served to inspire people in the Cocagne watershed about the possibility of finding measures and approaches to face global warming.
We have targeted the following themes: The impacts of climate change, biodiversity, infrastructure, biodynamic agriculture, the importance of marshes for fishing and the coast, as well as forestry and energy.
The themes of the workshops and talks are chosen by the citizens and we are always open to your suggestions and comments!
B. Communications with the public (Bulletins, website and social media)
In order to inform the residents of the Cocagne watershed and the friends of the Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group (PCSDG), we are building on our communication plan, revised in 2018. The PCSDG uses various tools for external communication: press releases, email invitations, posters, newsletters, website and social media.

C. Initiatives and requests from citizens.
The initiatives come entirely from committed citizens who bring their ideas to the PCSDG in order to carry out these projects with us. There are various topics and in 2018-19, we have accomplished 5 major initiatives related to buffer zones, wetlands and pollinators, seeds, quarries and extra-mural.
Our results
- 29 activities (including 8 talks and workshops) with +350 participants
- 100% of participants are satisfied or very satisfied
- 30 new members (+ 55.6%)
- Over 700 volunteer hours
- 11 community newsletters sent to +850 subscribers
- More than 2200 visitors to our website (+ 11.3%)
- 269 Facebook subscribers (+ 21.9%)
- 1 new YouTube channel with 6 new videos
- 31 partners and 6 sponsors
- 5 citizen initiatives and 21 citizens' requests
The PCSDG plays a catalytic role in community sustainable development. It sets up programs to improve the quality of the environment and the quality of life of the citizens of the Cocagne River watershed.
We are very grateful for the trust that our partners and citizens place in us. We wish to thank the Environment Trust Fund for their continued support for over 20 years. For 2019-20, we are planning for about 20 projects that are related to water quality, climate change adaptation, young stewards for sustainability, food sovereignty, birds, butterflies, seniors' resilience, etc.
