Board members and some GDDPC staff
November 15, 2018

Cocagne - The Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group is almost 20 years old and its board has met for the 200th time on November 7, 2018.

The Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group (PCSDG) has already accomplished a great deal since its formation in 1999. In 2000, the first project started and since then the PCSDG has undertaken various protection and restoration, education and territorial development and local governance projects. For example, there have been septic tank projects, info-shows, watercourse classifications and the Wastewater Management Working Group at Florina Beach and Treasure Island.

Often we forget that all these projects are only possible because there is a board of directors that is volunteering passionately and committed to ensuring the sustainability of communities in the Cocagne watershed. According to our accounts, the Board met for the 200th time on November 7, 2018 at the group office. Among other things, we discussed the continuation and creation of new projects.

We are very lucky at PCSDG because we have board members who have been involved since the beginning, that is, for 20 years! It is impossible to calculate all the hours they volunteered, but it is estimated that this is a minimum of 12,000 hours for the board. In addition, they give interviews to the media, they conduct workshops, they do research, they write letters and they are active in several committees of the community.

On the occasion of the 200th meeting and soon the 20th anniversary of the PCSDG, we want to acknowledge the commitment of the Board, which generously donates its time and energy. Thank you to all past and present members of the PCSDG Board of Directors, your commitment has made and continues to make a difference in the lives of people in Pays de Cocagne. Welcome to new people who want to join as a member on the PCSDG board.

For more information on the PCSDG, come see us at the happy and veggie potluck on December 12, 2018, Wednesday at 6pm at Center 50, 10 rue Villa in Cocagne. Also, you can visit us at the office between 9 am and 3 pm, consult our website www.ecopaysdecocagne.ca or Facebook page www.facebook.com/gddpc.
