Our School Tree Nursery project was a great success this year and its reach extended beyond the borders of the Cocagne watershed!

Nearly 800 young indigenous trees were planted and 240 students from 6 local schools participated: Blanche-Bourgeois, Notre-Dame, Grande-Digue, Calixte-F.-Savoie, Shediac Cape and Mgr-François-Bourgeois. The youth’s efforts contributed to the conservation and sustainability of the next generations of indigenous trees.

Here is what they planted in the tree nurseries this year:

- Red maple
- Red oak
- Yellow birch
- Balsam fir
- Black spruce
- White pine

Upcoming activities

January 20: Les Cocagneries 2018

In collaboration with the Centre 50 of Cocagne and the parish committee, we are organizing a series of 3 Old Fashion Community Suppers at $10/person. Tickets will be sold in advance (200 limit). You can eat in or take out if you prefer. They will be held at Centre 50 in Cocagne January 20th, February 17th and March 17th. Storm date: following Saturday. January 20, 2018 menu: fried smelts, mashed or boiled potatoes, vegetables, blueberry cake, tea, coffee. 

These suppers are fundraisers for the Cocagne Saint-Pierre Church. Come one, come all!

January 29: The Process of Adaptation to Climate Change in the Cocagne-Grande-Digue Community

A public presentation will be held Monday, January 29, at the Notre centre in Grande-Digue to share the results of an interdisciplinary research, particularly in social sciences, stemming from the ARTisticc project (Adaptation Research, a Trans-Disciplinary Transnational Community and Policy Centred Approach).
